A Book

I am looking for a book to give to my son for graduation. I have found a few that I kinda like but am wondering if any of you have any titles for me to check out. I want it to be a "meaningful" book from a mother to a son (and also another one father to son). It could also be from parents to a son.
Any suggestions??
Also....any other "cool" ideas for things that we could get for him??

Weekend Plans

We plan on going to SF tomorrow.....to "celebrate" Chad's birthday (we had planned on going last weekend but it was too cold). He gets to pick the place to eat and then we do a little shopping. They have some great second hand stores for DVD's and PlayStation games. He and Jeremy will do that while Courtney and I hit the "real" stores to see if we can find any bargains.
*
Sunday will be busy with Church and Shooting Sports (we have SS every Sunday thru April).
*
Do any of you have anything exciting going on this weekend?

Pig Time Again!

It's that time again....time to start loading out pigs. We took one load out this morning (175) and will be working on that for the next several weeks. We have someone hired to do the pressure washing so that's a load off our minds. Our kids and my friend Laurie's kids usually do the washing but they are all a little busy with basketball and school right now.
So.....if you see me in the next few weeks, don't get too close or you might just get whiff of me and it won't be pleasant!!!

Brrrrrr!

It was minus 4 degrees this morning and the wind was blowing like crazy when I did the pig chores.....brrrrrrr! At least we didn't get the snow like they did further south...there is a blizzard going on just a few hours south of us.
~
I would love to just snuggle in and watch movies or something like that this evening but Courtney has a basketball game and I can't (or should say won't) miss that!

$$$$$$

We took the kids out of school this morning for a few hours so they could close on their cow loans. There is a wonderful FSA (Farm Service Agency) program for youth (that are involved in FFA or 4-H) that want to get started owning livestock....including a pretty low interest rate. This is the second time they have done the loan...they both did it about 5 years ago to purchase their first 3 cows and paid that off just recently. They both wanted to increase their cow herd so we let them go through the process again. We may just have a couple of future farmers on our hands!

Jeremy is going to Norway!

Jeremy and his cousin (and good friend) Kasey just booked tickets to go to Norway in July! They are going to visit the foreign exchange student (Karianne) that lived right by us and went to school here last year. Kasey and Karianne were really good friends and Jeremy picked her up for school every day and also took her to prom so he got to be really good friends with her too. They are going to be gone for 17 days and I am sure they will have a great time!

Shooting Sports

Shooting Sports started again yesterday. The season runs January thru April....the State Match is in April. Both of the kids shoot archery (5 different categories), air pistol and .22 pistol and I am a certified instructor for archery. There is also BB gun, .22 rifle and shotgun available to shoot. It is a very good program and the kids love to participate. Jeremy has even qualified for and shot at Nationals twice, what an awesome experience! It is for kids ages 8-18.....if you have kids this age, I would highly recommend this program....it is available in almost all the states!

Whew!

This has been one busy week!

Lets see, where do I start??!! We are trying to get some corn hauled out...have 22 loads to do this month. It's not too bad if we wouldn't have all this other "stuff" thrown in the mix too.

Had the year end appointment at the bank on Monday...an almost all day process (those of you who farm will appreciate the time put in ahead of time for this appointment....thank goodness Chad does most of that).

Chad is going to some marketing meetings so he was gone all day Tuesday....my time to get caught up on housework and READ (I actually finished a book this week....only took me 2 weeks)! Doubleheader basketball game on Tuesday evening, so both kids played. We lost both of those games.

Wednesday the kids had 4-H in the evening.....it was our turn to provide lunch too.

Yesterday Jeremy had a game at home but my nephew also played so I was there by 4:00. Long night!

Basketball in Aberdeen tonight for Courtney....long drive, about 2 hours.

Basketball doubleheader tomorrow....JV starting at 4:00....my niece plays on the JV so I plan on going right away at 4:00....another long night!

Hopefully next week won't be quite so busy and I will have more time to Blog!
