Weekend Work

Whew, what a weekend! We hauled 80 cow/calf pairs home from pastures...we don't have a semi trailer to do this so it takes several loads and a LONG time and LOTS of driving. We got all the farm equipment moved back home to get ready to start on corn.....we finished with soybeans *sigh of relief*. We also vaccinated the 2100 pigs we have so far....each one gets a shot. Ahh...Family Fun!

Believe it or not...we do have lots of fun while doing some of this! Our nephew Booker rode along with us on several loads of cattle and he is such a RIOT....he cracks us up all the time! Courtney's friend Hannah helped with shots and we all got some good laughs with her too. We always try to keep it light and have fun while doing thing.

Also....it is Jeremy's 18th birthday today.....what a great young man he has turned into! Happy Birthday Jeremy!

Happy Birthday Jeremy!

Um, you think if I sent you my girls for a couple of weeks you'd be able to get them doing chores for me?

I hope this day is great for all of you! Happy Birthday Jeremy!
And, if you've got to be working, you might as well be laughing with the ones you love. ;)

I can about imagine what Booker had to say. I love that kid! What a weekend. I'm tired just reading about it. How did the last game go?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JEREMY!!! It sounds like you work like we do, keep it fun and laugh often. Sometimes, that is the only way not to go crazy!! Glad you got soybeans done! Check one thing off your list! It is raining here today, so not much I can do outside. Just trying to catch up on laundry and blogging of course. Have a great day!!

Happy Birthday Jeremy! How was the birthday on Mom? 18 and 19 were hard on this Mom, and 20 in December will be even harder. You want them to grow up, but you don't want them to leave you.

I think your frazzled farm life sounds delightfully fun!

Whoa! I agree with Farmers Wife...that's a lot of hogs. Good job getting the beans done. Just in time to beat the rains?

Happy Birthday to your Jeremy!

Happy Birthday Jeremy!

You should just have a big cattle drive sometime rather than hauling them. Wouldn't that be a blast?

You could capitalize on the idea, advertising it as a "cattle drive vacation" for city people, charge them big bucks, put them all on horses and have tons of help!(Remember City Slickers?)

I just found your blog and have really enjoyed reading it! We just moved to Indiana from central Florida and it has been so wonderful to see all the farming and equipment. Thanks so much for sharing! It has helped explain a lot of things I couldn't figure out (the combine).
