Mother/Son Weekend!

I had a wonderful time with Jeremy and had some really great talks with him this weekend! It is so fun to talk with them as "big people". He has grown up so much and has turned out to be quite a decent young man!

Jeremy really liked one of the colleges that he toured (SDSMT) and is very interested in maybe attending it. The only downfall is the distance from home....he really wants to come back home and watch some football games and watch his sister play basketball and volleyball. He also wants to help out on the farm on weekends as that is a passion of his and he still thinks he wants to farm after college. Decisions...decisions....I don't envy him having to make this huge decision in his life!

I don't envy him either. I am glad he wants to farm some day. I had wondered about that.

Glad you had a good time.

Jeremy has a huge decision to make but it seems he is thinking out all possibilites. You must be so proud of the responsible young man he is!

I don't envy him and the decision he has to make but more so I don't envy you and Chad. I'm sure it's going to be a tough day when you drop him off at college - no matter what the distance.

What a nice time for the two of you to have together to talk and just spend time together. It's really precious as when they get out on their own those times are few and far between. We are so blessed to have our son so close by and he works in the business with his Dad so I get to hear them discussing different accounts and all quite often. He never wanted to go far away for college either cause he liked to be near home and likes this area that he grew up in so he went to college right here in Maine. We've had a lot of kids leave Maine to go to school but then come back after a few years to get out of the rat race of the city. They think they want this big change but find out it's not all it's cracked up to be. We just have a slower pace here, not that we're not busy but we don't deal with the traffic and all the crowds that the city people deal with every day. It makes me tired just thinking about it! I'm a country girl and proud of it!! :o) Glad you got your crops all in, what a blessing to have that all done!!!! We got our hay and shavings all in. Yippee! Take care! xoxox

I'm sure he'll make the right decision. I left home and moved to the cities the day after graduation. Could NOT WAIT to get out of the small town. 10 years later I found myself wanting to move back. Go figure.

Good luck with the decison and transition your family will go through. It probably won't matter how far away he is...he'll come back often.

I bet its super hard not to decide for him, huh? I'm sure he'll make the right decision.

It is a joy to talk to teenagers as they are growing up. They have such intelegent questions and answers. I am happy that a young man wants to farm even with the hard and good times that happen on a farm. Please shake his hand for me. I do that when I meet a young farmer and say thank you for me. I also know of the decisions that have to be made concerning high education. My girls liked the local colleges. The oldest one said she would not get homesick because Dad was just a phone call away and could be on the campus within an hour and the younger one lived at home and drove to her classes.

What a great time in life. Enjoy it with him! I remember those times--what a ride!.

One of our sons went to college close by--just an hour away. The other one--did it all! We always said he took the scenic route through college. :-) He ended up attending four schools--yes,4--and I lost count of majors. But he did finish! He has had the same job ever since and is successful in his chosen career! Whew!

It is a blessing to get to the place in life that you look at your grown-up children and can say, 'They are really good people. We like them!"

Sounds like your Jeremy is on the right track. I'm sure he will do well wherever he goes.

I think it's great that he wants to stay so connected with home and family. Some kids at that age can't think of anything else but themselves. You must be very proud.

I've heard that SDSMT is a great school. It would be a good choice but I can understand his wanting to be closer to home. He'll get it all sorted out soon and I'm sure that his decisions will be sound. It's nice when they finally grow up and become people isn't it? Less than three years and I'll be in your shoes with my youngest. Gosh it went by fast!
