House moving!

Our old house is jacked up and on wheels ready to be moved....YEAH!We built a new house 3 years ago and just got all the stuff out of the old house this summer and FINALLY called the fire department to come burn if for us. One of the guys on the fire department asked if we were interested in selling it and wanted to come look at it. He and his wife came and looked at it and fell in love with it (even tho we had pulled all the cupboards out and took some walls down etc.). We told them they could have the house....for free. They were excited and I was too....we bought the house from my husband's grandparents who we loved dearly and are both deceased now. The idea of burning it down was really bothering me so this way, everybody wins!

It always amazes me to see houses "driving" down the road. I'm glad you guys were able to give it away rather then burn it :)!

Have a wonderful day!

Won't it be fun to go and visit your old house in a new location and all remodeled?

I was just wondering about your old house the other day. I bet it was fun to bless someone with a house! So how far away will it be moving?

Grandma and Grandpa would be thrilled....actually Grandma would probably say, "I don't know why anyone would want that old thing anyways..." But she'd be smiling inside. Good job Noem family.

Even though we totally gutted and remodeled our house I soooooo want to do the same thing (maybe not for free though). It just isn't big enough. I bet it's really going to seem bare/empty in that spot once it's pulled away.

Courtney did another really good job last night. Rebounding queen, she is!!!

What a wonderful idea. What a blessing to help another achieve a dream. It will be exciting to see what they do with the house once they get it moved. I have watched two or three houses being moved around my area. One was an old barn that a couple made into a beautiful home.

Everybody is a winner in that deal. Of course, you couldn't ask them to pay for it when they already knew you were planning to burn it down. :-)

Very generous of you just the same.

That's a great thing to do with the house! Does it seem empty on the yard? My parents built a new house when I was in university and someone bought the old house. I pass by it occasionally and still think of it as our house! How are your new cows settling in? Does it take longer to feed everybody now? Lots of work when the calves start coming :)

I agree with everyone else....I'd like to see pictures of your new home.
That is nice that someone else got the home.
That happened to me growing up.
My parents built a new home and sold their old home to someone else and had it moved off of their property.

Wow..what a great story. I am glad the house was saved. I love Farmers...they are so hard working, not that other workers aren't. I came across your site by reading other ones and found your site so interesting....
