A Book

I am looking for a book to give to my son for graduation. I have found a few that I kinda like but am wondering if any of you have any titles for me to check out. I want it to be a "meaningful" book from a mother to a son (and also another one father to son). It could also be from parents to a son.
Any suggestions??
Also....any other "cool" ideas for things that we could get for him??

Definitely "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch and "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. All my kids will get these two books when they leave the nest. Let us know what you decide!

Oh, I forgot to mention that my parents gave me luggage for my graduation gift. I don't know if that's cool or not, but it would be really cool with some airline tickets attached!!!

I don't have any mother/son book ideas...but I know many guys that have gotten Rich Dad, Poor Dad from their fathers. And from what I've heard...it's great!

What about the Chicken Soup for the Son's soul? You could go through it and add some of your own thoughts to the entries that touch you, so that he knows that the words are words you would like to say to him.

For other ideas...gas cards, phone cards, grocery store gift certificates. At least you know he won't get stranded, won't starve and can call home if he's homesick ;)

He's young and growing up, let me suggest this:

I was gonna recommend the Dr Suess one too!

T received "Life From a Deer Stand" - its a devotional by Steven Chapman and its really good.

Hope these are helpful.

No idea's on the books but I thought the idea of the gift cards for eat-out places and gas was a good idea. I got luggage when I graduated. It's nice for them to have something permanent to keep as a reminder of that day. Do they still do ID bracelets with a personal inscription?

Definitely Dr. Seuss.

Not sure of any books, above ones sound great! I would say gas cards, eating cards, luggage, etc. Things he could use and will need. I got a TV for graduation and can you believe it still works and I still have it!

We gave our the Dr. Seuss "Oh, The Places You'll Go" when they graduated in the 90s. It's a good one--but I imagine there are several other good ones out there. What an exciting time for him--and you, too!

I'ver been trying to catch up on what everyone has been up to. I always love hearing about what's happenin' on the farm. PIGS! I'm glad it's you, not me! :-)

My dad gave me Letters From A Businessman To His Daughter as I left...the same author - Kingsley Ward - has one to his son as well called Letters From A Businessman to His Son.

Also recommend Don't Sweat The Small Stuff (for teens) and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. Both of these books have adult versions if that's more appealing.

Hi,
I got to your blog through my Mom's
(Creation in Progress). If your son hasn't decided what to do after high school, "Cure for the Common Life" by Max Lucado is a good one. Also, "Where's Mom Now That I Need Her: Surviving away From Home" by Betty Frandsen is good. My husband's parents got it for him when he graduated and we still use it sometimes.
