Another Night of Lasts

Courtney's basketball team lost first round of Districts, so they are finished for the year. We had some very sad girls last night and watching them cry did make me shed a few tears of my own. They are a really close group of girls....only one senior, no juniors, 6 sophomores and 4 freshmen.

Courtney was so upset that they didn't have practice anymore either....I remember that being the most relief after finishing the season. Maybe that's why these girls get along as well as they do, played as well as the did all year and ended up with a very good record.

Wow, that must have been a very tough night for all of you. Rest assured though, that there are still many more FIRSTS coming in their lives. Keep your chin up!

Sorry about your loss last night, and such a close score, must have been quite a game.

Nice that only one is a senior and will be leaving.

having played on a team that never made it past the first round of districts...i can so give her some pointers on ways to deal with losses. but it's a better lesson when the losses still really stink---each one of them. we should never get comfortable with that feeling.

Yeah - I remember the one thing that made me smile after that last loose was no more sprints!

BUMMER!!! It's a good thing she is not the senior this year...poor mom might not be able to handle that.

Hang in there Courtney!

Yeah, I was on that same team as Heidi Jo that never made it past the first round of districts. I think we would have cried had we won! :)

In all seriousness, I have heard so many wonderful things about these girls and can imagine the sadness of the last game of the season.

It's always sad to go out on a loss! Unfortunately, that's what happens to almost everyone in tournament play. They sound like a great group of girls!

My son's team (coach, not player) also lost their first district game. They played one more--and won--but, the loss put them too low to advance. Not a great season for them! They often make it to the state tournament. This was definitely not the year for that!

That is too bad. It is never any fun to loose especially at Districts!

Hope that you are feeling better.
There has been a lot of nasty things going around here also. They called school for a few days because of it.

I agree it's never fun to lose in the first round of districts. I'm so sorry. But, losing in the first round of north state isn't any better.
The good news is, she's NOT a senior, so she's not totally done playing. Now she can take a break--but only for a couple of weeks--then get back in that gym and be better next year than she was this year.
And, I think that chocolate helps. ;)
