Banana Relays

Today is the Banana Relay track meet here at Hamlin. They have been doing this track meet for as long as I can remember. They call it the Banana Relay because our throwers (shot put and discus) do not get to run many (if any) relays so they have the throwers run the relay. At the end of the relay, the last runner on the relay team has to eat a banana so the winning relay team is determined by the first one to cross the line AND finish the banana. Each team usually consists of 2 boys and 2 girls. This year both of my kids will be in it.....Courtney will hand the banana off to Jeremy, who is the last runner and gets to eat the banana! I am excited and am hoping to get a few pictures of it! I'm just hoping that he does NOT choke....literally!

I've never heard of that either so am anxious to see the pictures. Yes I hope he doesn't choke on that banana!!!

Great pictures of the calf being born with help. How did it do afterwards? My son weighed 10 and half pounds when he was born and I was wishing they would put a chain on him and pull him out too!!! lol!!

My 3rd son did the high jump and the relay, but I never heard of the banana relay. Can't wait to see the photos.Track meets were always fun to go watch and I always managed to get a sunburn or windburn.

I have never heard of a banana relay. I'm not sure I'd like gobbling down a banana after running like that. lol
