Calving

Our calving date officially arrived a few days ago. We had 5 babies early and have had 3 in the last 2 days now. I just love this time of the year....the new life, the grass becoming green, spending more time outdoors (and the temps are bearable) and just the "fresh" smell!
I love watching the new calves run around jumping and kicking. They are just so cute! I will try to take some pictures one of these days to post.

I love to watch this season too. I pass by a small petting farm each day and the baby goats make me smile. They don't have any cows, so I don't get the pleasure of seeing calves. I want to see your pictures! :0)
Thanks for the link and the shout-out! Good luck to you!

I can't wait to see pictures!! I LOVE baby calves! Jeff and I were driving to church the other morning and we saw some out in the field playing..it was priceless! LOVE IT! I keep telling Jeff we need to get a few but I realize they don't stay calves very long :)!

I really like watching the new calves on a sunny day out there kicking up their heels and their tails in the air. To bad they don't stay small for long.
I also read your prom post and may I say that your kids looked so beautiful & handsome. I really loved the dress your daughter wore.
Have a nice day.

I am really missing foaling this time of year. I forgot how much it helped get me through spring. lol The new life and green grass are high on my list as well. I don't know what I was thinking breeding late.

yes, Spring! Ours has come and gone and it seems we are in summer now. You said the weather is now bearable. Do you mean warm enough to handle? Our weather has passed the bearable stage and is starting into that tropcial unbearable stage. YUCK! But I did enjoy a couple of months of spring like weather. Oh please post photos of the calves. My Shane will love seeing them.

We only have 4 left to calve. We try to finish by April 15 so we can start field work. I see a branding in my very near future. . .
