Long Day....Short Night

Chad and I had a really long day yesterday getting cows with calves up into the lot and bedding everything down for the storm. We are limited in space in the barn so we were trying to set up pens to utilize the space as best we could too. It got really nasty towards the end of our work and wouldn't you know that a few cows decided to calve in the nasty weather and it was absolutely miserable getting them to the barn LATE last night (or should I say this morning)! The kids didn't have school today but the poor things were up at 7:45 to come out and help us. A view of the deck this morning.

A view out the living room window.

The calves waiting to be let out this morning to be reunited with their mommas.....they were really hungry.

Not being very patient..... aren't' they cute??!!

Letting them back out with their mommas. Like the nice hind end shot of me that Courtney got??!!

Today was a little better....we only had 2 calves but the one momma was a stinker to get in. I got stuck 4 times, once where Chad had to pull my 4-wheeler out with the tractor and Courtney got stuck once and had to be pulled out with the tractor too. We laughed our butts off at each other....Chad on the other hand didn't think it was quite as funny. Hopefully tomorrow will be an better day! I am totally exhausted!

Looks like you have been busy! How much snow did you get? We had blizzard warnings for the other parts of ND but not for our area.

Man, just thinking about your day makes me tired! What a gorgeous view from your deck - but so much snow still! Enough already eh?

I know you'll have green grass soon!!!

And don't worry - by the time yours is nice and green - ours will be brown and dry from the heat of summer and from the lack of rain...it never seems to rain in summer here!

I hope the snow is all melting away and you can get back into your routine soon!

I know you're tired of it, but I just love the snow. We never get any here!

Lotsa work and I am sure the weather WAS nasty but the snow is always a treat to see ...at least to those of us that rarely see it. Hope you had a restful weekend.

THey are very cute! Brooklyn loves Jersey Calves because according to her they look like Bambi. Silly girl. Hope they all made it through the storm! I would love to get together to visit sometime soon! Poor Kristi, I called her Wed. night in tears and talked with her for half an hour at least! She is very understanding!
