Noisy

It sure has been noisy around here and is only going to get worse.....

We weaned the calves on Sunday so there has been a lot of bellering going on for the last few days. Some of the cows have given up but the calves are still at it!
We started picking corn yesterday so the dryer will be in full force today. I get so used to the thing running this time of the year that if it shuts off during the night, I immediately wake up and tell Chad.
This farming sure is a noisy business too!

That's an interesting tidbit for this city bred girl.

I need to do some weaning here but have been putting it off. Poor Scarlett really isn't going to like being separated from her mom.

Funny...I MISS that sound! I always associate that sound with fall.

And you want know another thing? When everyone else is complaining because of the stinch of cattle manure...I can not get enough of it. It reminds me of home.

After a week of snow and over 4 inches of rain and crops once again under water the farmers are again getting their crops out around here.
I always hated hearing those cows bellering, but our neighbors have now put their cows in a field behind us and we can hear them. It is such a sad sound.
Good luck on getting your crops out.
God bless.

Just reading this I could hear the calves bellering in my head!!! So glad you are able to get started on the corn. Sounds like this week is the week to push to get them done with all the nice weather we are having.

So funny story that I think you *might* be able to appreciate.

Saturday morning the hub and I head to town to pick up stuff for the game. We come back to the ranch and his stepmom is on the front porch in her nightgown shooing a cow in her front yard. Yes shooing. She's scared to death of these things even though she's lived for the 30 some years now. She's on the verge of tears because the little guy is inching closer and closer to her garden. Shoo cow shoo. Go on shoo.

Hubs about had a coronary laughing so hard.

It makes me want to cry just thinking about those poor babies being weaned and bellering for their mamas!

Oh - those noisy little creatures are SO sad because they want their mommies. Don't you feel like a big meanie? By the way - did Laurie talk to you about volleyball? I might try the HEC tonight.. we will see. I just want to play!
