Contact Dilemma

Last Saturday I got my first pair of contacts. After watching a brief video and then putting the contacts in and taking them out and then putting them in again (taking several attempts and a lot of time), I was on my way home. I had my daughter with me and we giggled through the whole thing. I felt like a clumsy, uncoordinated person (and Courtney informed me that I looked like one too). I thought maybe this process would get easier (there has been one day that I did get them in with only a few attempts) but most days it takes me FOREVER to get the darn things in. One of my friends (this would be you Laurie) has a terrible time getting her contacts in so she wears her glasses most of the time (aren't you glad I shared that with everyone Laurie). She and I have had many good laughs over this but I have vowed never to make fun of her again (only about the contacts) now that I have been through it. Anyway, does it get easier or should I go back to wearing my glasses???

It does get better! I remember when I first got mine that I couldn't hardly touch my eye and now its no big deal. I would stick with the contacts! They are so much easier!

Oh, definitely keep trying! I know that once it gets easier you will LOVE them! I have had contacts for several years now and wouldn't trade them for anything....except lasik eye surgery! Good luck! :)

I agree with the others - it does get better! I've had my for about 15 years and I wouldn't give them up. My biggest problem though, is rushing and putting them in when they are flipped the wrong way.
I wouldn't trade them!

Awww, it gets MUCH easier. I've been wearing contacts since 8th grade. For me, they are easier than glasses because I love wearing sunglasses and those tinted eyeglasses have never worked for me. Once you get used to it, it really becomes second nature. They are now just part of my routine, I can pop them in without a mirror, still sitting on the edge of my bed, lol. Hang in there, it will be worth it!

I don't think I even knew you had glasses. Am I that used to them that I don't even see them anymore? Maybe it's the blond highlights I got that's turning me into an air-head?!!! Anyway...I'm with the other girls, stick to the contacts and pretty soon you'll hate to wear your glasses.

Oh yeah, "Lauri, where is your blog? You can't remain a lurker for long!"

Amy, I just had glasses for reading and computer work before but just had an eye exam and he wanted me to wear them more often and for driving too (which is all the time with my schedule) so I thought I would give the contacts a try instead of wearing the glasses all the time. So no, the blonde highligts are not turning you into an air-head, you have probably never seen me with my glasses on because they were old and I hated them. (got a new pair of glasses along with the contacts too, so you may just see me in them now)

I struggled for over two years. So although many seem to successfully wear contacts, they are not for me.
But my son has worn them since he was 12.

Thanks for visiting my blog!
Stay with the contacts--They are easy when you get used to them. I wear glasses now, but had contacts for years. When I needed bifocals I went back to glasses. I know, some people with bifocals use contacts, but it wasn't working for me.

You mean you were driving around blind?????? So that explains it!

Good luck! I hope you post prom pictures. I'm so sad I can't be there to see the big stud!

I'm going to check back in a week or so, so you can tell me it did get easier. I know I'm going to be needing something soon, and I can't imagine myself in glasses.

I've been lurking.....

I've been wearing contacts for years and still have problems getting them in and out.

My eye doctor gave me extended wear contacts - I wear them for a week straight. They only come out Saturday nights to get cleaned and then every month I get a fresh pair. Much easier!!

I'm half blind with astigmatisms so it's pretty expensive for me but I wouldn't have it any other way...I just hate the hassle of taking them out and putting them in.

Just an idea.....
