Wheat Harvest

We started the wheat harvest today....along with that comes the baling of the straw. We don't have a lot of acres of wheat so it shouldn't take us too long but Chad/Jeremy do some custom baling of straw so that will keep them busy for a few days. We are going to teach Courtney how to bale so please be praying that we keep our sanity. She has only baled once (and only baled about 3 bales and then I took over...she was too hard on the tractor...and me).Harvesting the wheat.
Courtney.....notice the combine in the background. Are we harvesting or having a photo shoot??!!
Baling the straw.
Dropping a bale.
I love this time of the year...it is so beautiful with all the crops in the area.

I hope you get a great yield! I am praying for rain. I just realized I don't even know if dad planted any wheat this year.

Wonderful pictures! Brings back memories.
My family lived in the wheat-growing area of North Central Texas when I was in high school. Wheat harvest started in June there. Always an exciting time--Seeing those huge machines moving across the miles and miles of fields was fascinating to me. We lived in a small farming town so I knew a lot of people who lived on farms and were involved in the harvest.

I really enjoy the pictures of you guys harvesting wheat! Good luck with the baling. I think I would be hard on the tractor too if I was to try such a thing :)! I always enjoy watching Jeff bale our grass in the summer!

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!!

Farmers have such amazing jobs. I admire your work and the things farm kids get to do that city kids would be in awe of. Happy harvesting.

These pictures really accentuate the difference in our lifestyles! I appreciate all your work ethic there on the farm. God bless you all.

I also had the words to this patriotic song go through my mind as I looked at the beautiful wheat fields:
" Oh beautiful for spacious skies,
FOR AMBER WAVES OF GRAIN"!

I love our land and her different forms of beauty.
