It's Bull!

Yesterday Chad and I got a call from a neighbor....he had a sick bull and was wondering if we could bring our 4-wheelers over and help him get it in so the Vet could come out and look at him. No problem...we like to be neighborly! Well, after almost 4 hours we still didn't have the bull where we needed him. He was not sick, he actually had injured his front shoulder and was pretty thin so it has been bothering him enough that he hasn't been eating for awhile. When we tried to get him where we needed him, it went well at first but then he got a little "ornery" on us. After trying to "take" both Chad and I on our 4-wheelers several times, we got him about half the way (about 3/4 mile) and thought he would wander the rest of the way overnight to catch up with the rest of the cows. WRONG! The neighbor called this morning and he is still laying where we left him yesterday. So....not sure if we will be heading back over to help him out again today or what. Bulls...they can be so unpredictable!

I know exactly what you mean!! We still have the neighbor's young bull in our pasture, after 2 months, because we can't 'convince' him to leave. We sent 2 loads of cattle out this morning - a good feeling. Good luck with the projects!

After reading this post and the last one, I think I need to lie down and take a little nap! I get tired just reading about one day in your life on the farm--especially the story with the bull.

Sounds like you need to "dart" him.

Ok, having a bull almost "take" me on a four-wheeler would go under "stressful" for me! I just can't imagine. Glad he didn't get you :)

Do they make "bull size" shock collars? That would work nicely in this situation! :)

All I can think of is charge!! When I was a kid we raised Black Angus, and we forbidden to name them,

so of course we did! The boys named the bull...'bully'

Weren't we so clever!?

I've always been afraid of bulls. I don't think I would have been quite so neighborly.

I think that's nice of you guys to go over and help out your neighbor. Too bad the bull didn't cooperate more! Love the title by the way :)!!!

Have a great day!

Craig and I lived in the country for 3 insane years. I call them insane because I swear that was the state of mind I was in for wanting to move to the country!!! Anyways, one day I get home and our neighbors bulls were all in our yard. They broke one of our new trees and took down some of our fencing and GOT INTO MY GARDEN!!! I just about had a freezer full of steaks that day. J/K I was so mad at those dumb bulls.

Just keep making him mad so that when he takes you he's heading in the right direction of where you want him to go. Easy as that!! Just kidding. Be careful - they are such powerful creatures, even when they're hurt.

LOL, this is funny to me, because I've never been close enough to a bull to even touch them! And you are side by side with them. I always like reading what your life on the farm is like:) I always grew up near farms, and in the country, but not on one. These things always amuse me!
