Pheasant Hunting

Every year my husbands family comes back from all parts of SD and some in MN on opening weekend to hunt pheasants. We have a HUGE "hunting party" and have lots of fun. I think they had 17 guns this year. I used to hunt with them but have not for several years now. I did however walk along with them last year but took some "alone time" this year.

The relatives hunt our land and my father-in-laws land and have named our group "Big Al's Pheasant Safari"(after Chad's dad, Al). They had t-shirts made up with the logo on it several years ago so we all look kinda "cool" wearing the same orange t-shirts!

Jeremy taking aim.

Jeremy re-loading.

Chad, Jeremy and Courtney getting ready for a photo...notice Jeremy "goofing off".....he can't help himself when he has a gun in his hand. He loves to shoot.

My three pheasant hunters. Courtney is right handed but left eye dominant so she shoots left handed.

My three hunters on Sunday evening....they must have had a good hunting weekend...they are all smiling. Nothing like killing things and getting some good bonding time in with their dad!

I've never actaully shot at any birds, but used to walk with my uncles and brothers when I was a kid. My husband would like to hunt, but always feels he is too busy in the fall. Sounds like your gang had a good time!

"Nothing like killing things and getting some good bonding time in with their dad!"

LOL - that'll probably be what I'll be saying when my kids are old enough to go with Dad. I'm not from a line of hunters - so its all so new to me. But, I'm all for Daddy-time and free-time for me!!! :D

Looks like great family fun!

I remember firing a rifle once at Camp! It kicked me back a few paces!

I was going to comment how I love seeing men being so manly, then I read and noticed Courtney in the story/photo, sooo let me say your hunters are adorable!! LOL

Those area great pictures!!! I love the shirts too. We had a terrible day Saturday trying to find birds. I really didn't have that much fun. I got stuck walking a slough that was nearly impossible to move my legs in GRRR!! I'll probably just keep my gun with me in the tractor.

Glad you caught some time for yourself. It's kind of like the calm before the storm. Corn fields by day and volleyball/basketball courts by night.

I'm not a hunter but I can relate to the bonding part. These are times that your kids will never forget, being with their Dad out in the woods hunting

Chris!!!!!You ought to know it is dangerous to stand down range(the photo with all three of them aiming). Gee Whiz. What one doesn't do for a blog post:-)

P.S. Thanks for the nomination.

That is a great picture of the three of them!!

Jason was gone Saturday hunting and where his group was at was crappy for birds. He said none of them would get up off the ground. :)

nothing like bonding over fire-arms is there? well, i'd argue that bonding over shoe shopping is a lot more fun:0)

Love the pics! I agree it is great bonding time between Father and kids. Savannah can not wait till she is old enough to go and carry her own gun! AUGH! She goes know when they are hunting hogs or spotlighting coyotes. She has a great time! I did not go this year, I really like to bow hunt. But have not done that in a couple of years. Thanks for sharing! P.S. I love the shirts as well. How great there own shirts!!
