Oysters Anyone??

ROCKY MOUNTAIN OYSTERS that is......
We have never kept them and prepared them before so we decided this year will be the year to try them.
For those of you that don't know what they are....they are calf testicles and they are supposed to by yummy...I guess we will find out.
My brother Eric and his girlfriend Dulcy were back when we cleaned them and got them ready to freeze....I couldn't help but snap a few pictures of them "checking 'em out".

Have any of you had them or prepared them? We got instructions from Chad's cousin who is a wonderful cook on how to prepare them (freeze, slice thin and deep fat fry) but are always open to other suggestions....anybody have any other suggestions?

I personally have never tried them. For some reason there is just something about eating somethings testicles that gets me everytime :)! I know quite a few people that think they are great though. Sorry I have no pointers for you.

Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!

I know many people LOVE rocky mountain oysters....but I just couldn't do it. The thought of it is enough to make me vomit.

Let us know how they turn out. The before pictures are pretty nasty!

We just filled a bucket of them yesterday when we worked our calves. Eeeewww!! To see the whole process of cutting them off and then to the kitchen would make me vomit. I haven't a clue how to fix them.

Keep checking back for a picture of me and my buck. I had a really nice one picked out before the season opened but I haven't seen him since the day before opener. I've passed up a really nice one (Tylor actually got it) twice just waiting and hoping to see him again. This morning someone saw him with his antelors hooked on to another dead buck. I guess this explains why he hasn't been out and about. He got free and ran into our slough. Hopefully I get him tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving Chris!!

My suggestion is...throw them in the garbage, FAST!

Here is my advice - don't eat them! :) My grandparents loved them, I thankfully avoided them like the plaque or I'd still be in counseling... But hey, I'm sure they are delicious!

OH GROSS!!! I can't even bring myself to touch the nasty things let alone fry them and eat them. Here I thought preparing the turkey was bad enough. Seriously, I gag everytime I have to clean out the turkey that has already been processed. Can you imagine me in the kitchen with those? I was gagging looking at the pictures. Let us know what you think of them! Have a great Thanksgiving.

Well, my suggestion is to turn and run the other way. But, if you must try them, I'm glad I'm not there to witness it.
Those pictures are hilarious now that I know what they're holding...

I cook a lot of weird stuff, that I'd never eat, for the Rancher but those are not one of them. I was present one day when one of the neighbors prepared hog testicles though (gag) and she breaded and fried them. Some of the small cafes around here offer them on their menus and those are breaded as well. I can't watch when they are being eaten. There's just some things that should be left untried IMHO.

Have a great Thanksgiving, Chris!

I've heard of them but never had them before. How did they turn out? Did they taste like chicken - LOL?!

I'm happy to say, "I'm clueless!"

I finally tried chitlin's several years ago--Not as bad as I expected, but not good enough to want some more! I think I would give this delicacy a pass!

I am glad you like them. Boar testicles are are also called the same thing. I get sick everytime I have to bag and put in a freezer for a friend of ours. Enjoy.

Sorry - couldn't or wouldn't eat or prepare these!

I was gagging! I think I'll go without breakfast this morning. Suddenly I don't feel so hungry anymore!

I feel like I was watching episodes of Survivor!
