New additions to our "family"!

Thought I would share a few pictures of the cows we bought on Friday.....Courtney helping her dad do chores on Saturday....isn't she fashionable in her bright red insulated coveralls and coat??!!
Closing the gate.

You can tell she is cold...we had been out for hours at this point and it was snowing pretty good.

I tried to get a good shot of them all on Sunday before we tagged them but it was too hard to get them all in one place....this was the best I could do.

We had to move the cows we already had back home on Saturday from a field about a mile away. We had them out there to clean up a corn field we harvested......it had snowed too much for them to find any more feed out there so we moved them back home and will start feeding them here at home. Courtney and I drove the 4-wheelers to move them back home and it was absolutely miserable when we were heading east....the snow/sleet was piercing our eyes and face. I did have the camera along but did not get any pictures. We also had to get some waterers thawed out on Saturday morning so all the livestock could drink. When everyone was back home we had to feed all the livestock and bed them all down. Tell me again why we do this for a living??!!

Congrats on the new additions..he he :)! I bet that was not fun on Saturday when the weather was so nasty! Sounds like you had a busy weekend!

Have a great Monday!

Wow! She did look cold even with the heavy clothes on! What a lot of work you do, city folk don't have a clue do they?! I wish I had taken a picture of me and Funsize yesterday when we were feeding and getting horses put in at the stable as the owner was away. I can't tell you how many layers we had on! Chopping ice out of water pails isn't fun either but I wouldn't live any other way as I am sure you wouldn't! Nice looking bunch of cows, I'd have to name every one of them!

I CAN'T BELIEVE you were brave enough to go out on Black Friday!!!! I stay clear of the mall on that day!!!

We're getting our first big storm and they are predicting about a foot of snow. Was just out playing in it with the grand kids and they loved it. Will post a few pictures later.

You sound like I do when we go to a hog sell and by gilts that will be mothers. Tell your daughter it will be warm in the spring. Those cows look good.

I don't know why you do that for a living, but you sound like just the right ones to be doing it. Your family is the hardest working bunch of people!

YIKES! That really is a lot of cows--and realizing they are all "with child" just makes it all the more incredible.

Thanks for the pictures--Amazing stuff!

I know exactly how you felt!! Winter is the pits when you have so many things to do outside. What will you do when your helpers go away to school?! We missed their help dreadfully when our kids went away to university.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Yes, my dad did have a nice herd. They only ever bought new bulls so the "cows all grew up on the farm and this was their first trip to town", as the auctioneer put it!!

Stay warm!!!

Midlife mom is right: this girl doesn't have a clue. I know though that I'm so thankful you do what you do so I can eat. :)
I know you get tired of the snow, but it looks so nice. It hasn't snowed here in YEARS, and I miss it. Y'all would laugh at us. If the weatherman even mentions snow with possible accumulation, all of the grocery stores' shelves are cleared and the whole city shuts down! Schools close and everybody stays home. Ahhh, live in the South. ;)
