Cows and Calves

I took the camera out the last few days and took a few pictures of the cows and calves. This is actually Jeremy's cow with a calf that had only been born a few hours earlier.
Chad chasing a calf down with the 4-Wheeler to tag it.
Tagging a calf.
Another new baby!
Chasing one on foot (the mama had sent it outside the fence).
It was really foggy and there was frost on everything this morning....I thought it looked kinda pretty.

We had 8 new calves yesterday and 3 today. We are supposed to get some nasty weather the next few days which makes a lot more work for us and not so nice for the cows and the calves and really hard on the new babies. Hopefully we don't get near what they are predicting for us which is 6-12 inches of snow.

Where is spring? I love that last picture - it would be pretty framed! We had a few calves around here and we were simply amazed at how quickly they get up and walk (and the moms never stop!).

Good luck with calving.
Are you getting any precip? We had a small rain shower move through here tonight. It is really dry so we are hoping for more before we head out to the field--

Wow, I forget where you live, but it was in the 70's the last couple of days here. There is a possibility of snow flurries this weekend.

How many cows do you have?

Thanks for the pictures! We don't have any cows this year so I'm missing all the babies and the frolicking. Good luck with the rest of the season - I hope the snow goes somewhere else!

Gotta love our great state and its wacky weather.

I sure do hope those calves make it through just fine.

I'm dreading the weather too. We only have 10 calves so far too, but I keep picturing them with a foot of snow on their backs. I just don't know....do we put them in or leave them out with mom? Guess we'll find out soon. Loved the prom pictures. I was checking for them often. Can't wait to hear the stories.

Oh I so hope you don't get all of that snow! Do you have to bring all the mom's and babies into a barn? Those pictures are so good, I really enjoyed them.

Glad you got a laugh out of the Spa*nx story! HAHAHA! It was ridiculous to say the least! That thing is going back to the store, at $36.00 I'm not throwing it away!!!!!

Love the pictures of the new babies.
We are under a winter storm advisory. They are predicting 6-12", but right now it is pouring down rain. I can put up with the wet stuff as long as I don't have to shovel it.

Love the pictures, as always, and the story of life on the farm. Hope the weather is not as bad as anticipated.

Isn't that always how it is? Bad weather sometime during calving season?! Good luck!

How cute they are. We are getting baby pigs. The grass is greening up here to so the sows are all over the place. Have a good caving time.

Love and Hugs,
Joyce
