Calving has begun!

We had our first calf on Monday.

We aren't supposed to start calving for a few weeks but we had 2 born on Monday. So....calving season has officially begun!

Courtney was named Taco John's Athlete of the week at Taco John's in Watertown (about 30 miles away). They pick a local athlete of the week and a surrounding area athlete of the week. Courtney was picked for the surrounding area.She was nominated for making the LCC all-conference team for basketball.
She was pretty excited....and so are mom and dad!

Night Ranger

Two of my best friends from high school and I are going to see Night Ranger in concert Saturday night....YIPPEE!

Jodi and I are going to meet at Michelle's in Minnesota tonight and spend the night with her family. Tomorrow morning we will travel to northern Minnesota together for the concert and will spend the night there. Girls night out!!!!!! We will return home Sunday....after a VERY LONG drive.

I am excited for some girl time and to spend the weekend with some very good friends!

Now that basketball is done, our evenings are spent at home. We have been playing Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros.! Never thought I would hear myself say this but we have had SO MUCH FUN playing video games with each other. I am terrible at them and come in last most of the time but I am ok with that, at least we are hanging out together. Chad and Courtney are pretty competitive with each other and it makes me chuckle every time they are fighting each other for 1st place.

Courtney has a part in the school play this year (she has always done make-up in the past). That is coming up in April, along with Prom and Shooting Sports state match. They will start having late practices and she started Track this week so we won't be spending as much time together now but it was fun while it lasted.

We have not started calving yet but are expecting calves very soon....then it will get crazy around here again and back to a "Frazzled Farm"!

Spring

Looks like spring is well on it's way!

We have had lots of melting and thawing going on here which ends up with flooding when you have this much snow over the winter. Creeks and rivers are coming out of their banks and water is flowing everywhere. We have had some much needed sunshine this last week...YIPPEE! Just makes a person feel better when the sun is shining. Hopefully we can get lots more sunshine, especially with calving season just around the corner!

Trip

I had a great time on my trip to the Black Hills with my sister and my son Jeremy! We had some fun times with my mom and my brother. It was good to get away and relax a little.

We visited a "Hookah Bar" while out there. Hookah smoking is using an Egyptian bong and flavored Egyptian tobacco that is filtered through the water in the bottom of the bong (and totally legal!). I was really leery about the whole thing at first but ended up trying it. It was nothing like smoking and ended up being really fun because we were all laughing at each other. They give you bubble liquid to try to make bubbles with while "hookah smoking".

We did lots of other things on our trip but this was a "different" experience that I wanted to share with you.

And I am OFF!

I am heading to the Hills this weekend to see my mom and my brother. Gonna be a good road trip with my sister and my son. Hopefully the snow is all done....I really don't feel like fighting the weather while traveling too.

Prom

Prom isn't until the middle of April but over Valentines weekend Chad and I took Courtney and her friend Tayler to Sioux Falls and spent the night. It was a Valentines/Courtney's birthday getaway. Our goal was to find a style of dress that Courtney would like and to help Tayler get an idea too. This was the first of MANY dresses that Courtney tried on and instantly fell in love with it. So, we came home with this dress. It fit her perfectly so we were able to bring it home instead of having to order it in her size.

The color is called blueberry, it looks bluish-purplish and is shiny!

Tayler found a dress she loved too but they did not have her size in the dress and was told that she had to contact the main company directly to order it.

Chad was such a trooper throughout the WHOLE day of prom dress shopping. He would drop us off at stores and then go do his thing for awhile and come pick us up when we were done. The girls and I then went to a nail salon and the girls got a manicure/pedicure and I got a pedicure. When we got done at the nail salon, Chad picked us up and took us back to the hotel to have a drink while we waited for our supper reservations (at Texas Roadhouse, love that place). He had some roses sitting in the hotel waiting for me when we got back there....what a sweetheart!

We had a super weekend and we really needed it after the fall/winter that we have had!

March

I can't believe it is March already! Hopefully March brings us more of this.....

And less of this.....
