Window Wells

We had two of our window wells fill up with water during one of the many rainstorms we have had this summer and one window leaked water into the spare bedroom in the basement so we had a little investigating to do.
We dug down to the tile line to find out what the problem was....

Chad is 6' 5 " and when we got done digging, he could not see out of the hole...
and of course he picked one of the hottest days of the summer, also my birthday, to do the work.

We had no pea rock down to the tile line (just mostly clay) so we filled it with pea rock so it could drain properly....and have not had a leak since, even though we have had several more rain storms since, so I think it is fixed.
I did not take pictures of the other window well. That one was under the deck and was a PAIN to work on!!!!!

I can only imagine what it took to dig that hole out. Hopefully your ground is not rocky like ours.

You guys are so capable of tackling any and every problem. That is wonderful. Did you have to redo the bedroom? Hope not.

A few weeks ago we had the same thing happen --- but we just dug around and now doing some different landscaping and fixing on the gutters! But not fun and what a mess --- glad we didn't have to dig like that!

You would have had to buy dynamite to get a hole like that at my house. After a foot down you hit rock!

That's a good man you have there, hard worker! Glad it fixed your problem.

Man, what a way to spend your birthday!

That's quite a hole. As soon as I saw your post was titled window wells I thought back to the time we found a window well at home filled with little frogs!

Glad you were able to fix the problem.
