Soybean Harvest

The soybean harvest is going well. We are really happy with the yields that we have gotten so far. We are about 1/3 done with the soybeans but need a good frost for us to be able to harvest the rest of them. We may switch over to some corn for now...we have some that is tipping over and want to get it out of the field before we have too much yield loss.

Recent Purchase

Wooohoo....I have and Ipod! I bought it on Ebay. Am I really stepping into the 2000's or what??!! Ebay and Ipod!! My son had to help me get it set up since I am "technologically challenged" as I have mentioned in previous posts but am getting better at this whole computer thing. Do any of you have Ipod's and if you do...when do you use it the most? I bought mine to listen to in the tractor and while walking on the treadmill.

It's a PARTY!

My mom turns 60 in a week so when she was back visiting us last week, my siblings and I threw her a surprise birthday party! We all had a great time! Here is the "birthday girl" holding her cake....notice the shirt she is wearing... one of the guests at the party brought it and made her wear in for most of the evening.
Here are all of my mom's brothers and sisters that were at the party. There are 12 of them and only 4 were missing. Grandma is also in the picture.
Here is my mom and her mother....my Grandma....we love Gram.

Homecoming Parade

We lost the Homecoming game but it was a fun week for the kids (hectic for the adults). I did manage to get a few pictures of the Homecoming parade. Kasey driving the King and Queen in Jeremy's car.
The cheerleaders (Courtney...wearing #44).
My niece Kassidy (on the left) and Amy's niece Lexy on the right.
The football players on the firetruck...Jeremy on the back #79.

Courtney ditched the cheerleaders and jumped on with her class float for the second trip down main street....most of the floats go through twice.

Marathon Volleyball Match

Last night we had the longest volleyball match and of course we had to be playing in Aberdeen....2 hours away! We ended up winning in 5 games so it did turn out good but wow what a long night. We didn't get home until 12:30 and then I had to help Courtney (well, I didn't HAVE to help her, I chose to help her)pack all of her stuff for the Homecoming festivities, parade and game so it was very late by the time we got to bed! I am exhausted today and dragging so it's going to be a very long day!

My Mom is here Visiting!

My mom is visiting us for a week. She came on Saturday just in time to see Courtney play one volleyball match and then quick back to my home to set up for my Lia Sophia jewelry party. She is staying until Saturday (or Sunday). She is going to watch my nephew play football tonight....Courtney play volleyball tomorrow night, volleyball on Thursday (maybe because we travel 2 hours that night...she may go stay with my sister that night). Jeremy, Nolan (nephew) and Courtney are in the Homecoming Parade on Friday and then Jeremy plays his Homecoming Football game on Friday evening. Saturday my Nephew has a Football Jamboree that we are trying to talk her into staying for too....might as well get as many sports watched in a week as you can!

Sports Week!

Sorry gals, haven't had much time to check in with you all this week. Maybe this weekend I can "catch up" with you and leave some comments!

We have had a busy sports week and it continues on thru Saturday. Monday-football (my nephew), Tuesday-volleyball (Courtney), Wednesday we had a break from sports but had 4-H, Thursday-football (my nephew again) AND volleyball (Courtney), Friday-football (Jeremy) and Saturday-volleyball all day (Courtney).
I am also having a Lia Sophia party at my house on Saturday evening...come on over if you want to have some fun! I still haven't had time to clean my house so everyone will have to just deal with an uncleaned house and enjoy the company!
It's a good thing I have an understanding husband who doesn't complain when I take off to attend all of these activities (well, most of the time anyway). He does usually go with me for the kids' activities.

Technologically Challenged

Hey, I am making progress.....yesterday I bid for the first time and last night I made my first ever eBay purchase! Ok, I have to fess up, my son helped me with the whole Pay Pal thing but I am still excited, I am making leaps and bounds in this computer world (ok, maybe not leaps and bounds but definitely baby steps).

Cuttin' Silage

It's our last day of cutting silage if all goes well...woohoo ! We've done my father-in-law's, a good friend's and are now working on ours. I am on dinner and lunch duty today. I have spent all morning getting dinner ready and baking cookies for lunch later on. I really need to spend some time getting this house cleaned but other "things" keep getting in the way (the barn, farm work, pig chores, loading pigs, getting hog barns ready to pressure wash, volleyball, football etc.). Oh well, can't fret over the "little things"!

Bravo!

I got the huge honor of going to see Nickernoodle and Bryon and Kristi with many others from their church perform in Bravo last night. It was a great show and the food was delicious! One of the highlights of the evening was getting to meet Nickernoodle in person for the first time. She confused me for a minute when she introduced herself as "Jennifer"...I am so used to calling her Nickernoodle. Another highlight was getting to watch the show with my nieces...Kennedy and Kassidy...they are both such sweethearts. I was honored to spend the evening with my husband and kids too! We don't get to do much as a "family" anymore so it was nice to get to spend the evening together.
Thank-You Kristi for the tickets...we appreciate it and you very much!

Tug-O-War

Do you ever feel like you are in a tug-o-war...only it is you and your mind being tugged in 10 different directions by 10 different people and 10 different commitments and you can't seem to please any of them or simply do enough to keep caught up??!! Please tell me I am not the only one experiencing this or the only one that thinks I am going CRAZY some days! I really think that I am LOSING MY MIND! Oh, and my family will be the first ones to tell you that when I get like this I am a total CRAB!

I have got to plug this today....my sister-in-law (Kristi) has a very good post on here that every wife should see! Go check it out...http://blog.everydaywoman.tv/

Bye Bye Bully!

Update...the bull is on his way to meet his maker. We called the Vet and were going to take him to get looked at but there is nothing they can do and suggested selling him immediately. We knew he wasn't good anymore (for what we needed him for anyway) so I hauled him straight to the sale barn instead of the Vet clinic. I am just hoping that he "serviced" most of the cows in the pasture he was in.

Viagra Gone Bad!

I got a surprise phone call from Nickernoodle today and I was telling her about this bull of ours. She told me I should post a picture of it on my blog.....she even gave me the title for my blog today. I quick ran out and took a picture of him (you have to see it to believe it). So Nickernoodle here it is, just for you! By the way....I had a great visit with you too!"It" is not supposed to be HANGING OUT like this or BLACK! I have a feeling we are going to have several open (not bred) cows this year. The good thing is we don't have that many cows in the pasture he's in but the bad news is 2 of the kids' cows are in there. I always feel worse when the kids have an open or late cow.

State Fair

We went to the SD State Fair on Saturday. Jeremy went with some buddies of his but we took Courtney and a friend of hers and caught up with another friend of hers that we brought home with us too. The girls went to the 4-H dance in the evening and Chad and I attended a 40th birthday party for a very good friend of ours (Troy) that they had in the dairy barn. Ok, you really know what kind of hicks we are out here when we attend a birthday party in a dairy barn at the State Fair! Here is Troy with his "girls" (guernsey and jersey) that he brought to show in Open Class.
Here are my uncle's holsteins that they showed in Open Class.
Hannah, Tasha and Courtney right before we went home....they were acting a little silly by this point....see the fireworks in the background.
We had a great time at the State Fair!
